Tales of the Perhapanauts – Page 9

And finally we come to the end of my Tales of the Perhapanauts story. Go check it out:
http://tales.perhapanauts.com

This has been a really fun story to work on and I have to thank Todd Dezago for letting me do it. Todd has been nice enough to let me play with his characters a number of times now. The stories I do for them always end up being some of my best writing. And that is solely due to how layered Todd has made these characters. It would volumes of books to reveal all the backstory he has created for the Perhapanauts. I’ve heard just a small percentage of it and it is riveting. Do yourself a favor and go download the first trade at Comixology. Just click on Digital Comics and search for Perhapanauts.

Beyond the Perhapanauts I want to thank Todd for all the help he gave me when I was getting started with After-School Agent. I had a vague notion that I wanted to write comics but had no idea how to go about doing that. Years ago a friend of mine had introduced me to Todd. Our meeting lasted about 2 minutes. That was way back in the 90s. Flash forward to the 2000s and I thought I should talk to a working comic book writer. Todd was the first person that came to mind. I tracked him down and sent him an out-of-the-blue email asking for advice. Not only did he remember me, he gave me his number and we talked for hours about the comic book world. That was the start of a great friendship.

Once again, big thanks to Craig Rousseau for a) letting me write this story and b) drawing the last two pages. Go check out his artwork here:

Next week… The Finale!

Also if you haven’t done it yet, read the After-School Agent “Choose Your Mission” story. And if you have read it, give it another try, you may discover something new.

Tales of the Perhapanauts Pg. 8

I love it when a PAGE comes together! The newest installment of Tales of the Perhapanauts is up. Go check it out:
http://tales.perhapanauts.com

OK so this image is a bit of a misdirect. Yes it would have been cool to see the Perhapanauts as the A-Team. But I ran out of pages. Although you can still use BA Big as an avatar.

This is part 1 of the 2 part finale to my Tales of the Perhapanauts story. And it is drawn by none other than the Perhapanauts co-creator Craig Rousseau. Craig has been working in the industry for a long time now. You’ve probably seen a lot of his work with Marvel. He’s drawn Iron Man, Captain America and Spidey. He had a run also on the Mary Jane Loves Spider-Man series. I can’t say enough great things about him. Besides being an incredibly nice guy, he is an amazing illustrator. The highlight of every convention I go to is getting to hangout with him and Todd. They have been nice enough to let me join their “family” and it has been a blast. The next time you’re at a convention look for Craig. He always has tons of prints for sale and is busy the whole weekend doing commissions. I recommend getting one of his Canson sketches. Check out more of his work here:

The newest installment of Tales of the Perhapanauts is up. Go check it out:

This week the gang takes over the halls of 30 Rock. Working at SNL I get asked all the time how accurate 30 Rock is. And I can honestly saw that it is very accurate. (Well, real life is not quite as over-the-top as they depict on the show.) But they capture the feel of working on a weekly comedy show.

This week’s installment was drawn by the incredibly talented Leanne Hannah. I met Leanne and her husband Rod several years ago at Heroes Con. They were seated next to the After-School Agent table. We all hit it off immediately. I had just finished writing my first short back-up story for the Perhapanauts and was looking for an artist. When I learned that she was a fan of the book, I told Todd that she needed to draw it. She did an outstanding job. Then she illustrated an After-School Agent story for us. Click here to read it.

Now Leanne is doing work on a number of different projects. But the one she may be most famous for is Blue Milk Special. It’s an hilarious Star Wars-parody webcomic written by her husband Rod and drawn by Leanne. Go check it out:

Next week, we pull back the curtain in a page drawn by Perhapanauts creator Craig Rousseau.

LUCY!!! The newest installment of Tales of the Perhapanauts is up. Go check it out:
http://tales.perhapanauts.com

I absolutely loved I Love Lucy when I was a kid. Still do. Lucille Ball was an amazing performer. But maybe more importantly, she was a television business pioneer. I Love Lucy was actually the first scripted TV show to be shot on film, which allowed it to be archived and packaged as reruns.

This week’s installment was drawn by Rich Woodall. Not only did Rich successfully capture the look of the old series, he also created a very cool “old TV set” feel for this page. Go check out Rich’s art as well as his new Zombie Bomb app.

Next week, the Perhapanauts return to midtown Manhattan for a peak behind the scenes.

I really love how much personality Jason gave to the Smoke Monster. Not an easy task for an artist. But Jason really caught the transition from rampaging-evil-entity to drinking-buddy. Go check out more of Jason’s art here.

Next week, the Perhapanauts visit a classic TV show. In fact, the star recently had a milestone birthday.
